Try asking someone who is watching TV or playing video games to do something. A good portion of the time they will answer; "sure", "yes", or "okay", and continue what they are doing without actually comprehending what you are asking. Ask them at the dinner table why they didn't do what you asked, and they will most likely respond "You never asked me to do that!".
