This isn't the first time I have set out to capture the horrors of snoring in prose. I have, on several occasions, opined about the irony of the one person in the room, camp, bunkhouse etc... who is gluttonously enjoying a night of sleep, while at the same time depriving others of it.

Right now, my roomate is nocturnally whailing away like a large beast in the throws of death. I have been lying awake for the last forty-five minutes mentally crafting this letter, so decided maybe if...

I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.

-Mark Twain

I do not believe, unlike so many others, that I will survive death. I do not believe that there is some part of my ego that transcends my flesh, nor that the real me is some ethereal ghost that occupies this bio-chemical machine. Counting Days

Today is the last day of the cadre’s vacation, meaning we will resume processing tomorrow, and hopefully finish the day after. I’m eager to get to my unit. The lifestyle here at Warrior Readiness Center is depressing. I hate wasting precious days away, days that could be spent traveling, flying, loving friends and family, building a life and fortune. I can’t wait for this Korean initiation to be over with. I am very hopeful that my leash at...

Companions

I have three roommates who are all privates, and all under the age of twenty-two. Ballentine is a nineteen year old kid from Texas. I will probably devote the most material here to him, as he is the most amusing of the three. He is childlike both in appearance and intellectual stature. Moore is also nineteen, but is jocular and although socially quite immature, savvy. Tilletson is a very thoughtful and likeable fellow. He is twenty one, a...
