Censorship in the Media (in the right forum this time)

For it? Against it? What limitations are necessary? Should networks refuse to air something merely because it is "offensive" to the social norm? Are there any areas offensive material should not cross into in the media (i.e. religion/sex)?

Please take into account I am speaking of adult programming, reasons such as "what will the children think?", "well, we need to protect the children." or any combination of the words children, protection, and the phrases "innapropriate for his/her age", "too young" or "not old enough" are not relevent to the thread.

In the right thread this time...

Yes and no... Yes, because some adults are like children, and sue mcdonalds because they made themselves obese and things like that.

No, because not even all children are like children. It wouldn't be fair to everyone, and there's no reasonable way to determine who is mentally fit to be exposed to what, so...

I say, screw 'em. Restrictions should only go so far as to keep a certain degree of integrity in the media. No fake news, no infomericals for products that don't do anything, and no propaganda. Nothing to mislead the public. Offending the public, on the other hand...

Were not allowed to veiw TV, films are only American propoganda designed to increase our faith in them - they're all hero's to us. I have this computer in the secret basement of the shop and have it illegally hooked up to the net which isn't supposed to exist. Newspapers and magazines show some news and current affairs but with huge black blocks over what I assume is sensitive to the governments standing in our culture.

All up we have got it good compared to other countries I only recently discovered existed at all - FC save me.

About which bit? All of it's true.

People from some countries look at us funny when we answer why it is so but we don't like to talk about it much as someone may be listening who could turn you in.

What degree of integrity would you assume?

The music is horrible, it gave me a headache and now I hate people a little more.

It also added amo to my statement we training little girls to look more like prostitutes and prostitutes to look more like little girls.

Now you know.

I answered that way because in reality Australia seems to have a rather liberal attitude to censorship - sex is still a little rigidly conservative in the media though - and as such I have not really paid it much heed, not knowing much about it I avoided the question without ignoring you (which would be rude). Don't get me back as I wouldn't like it.

Like I said, no disinformation, as it only serves to victimize people en-masse. Art is okay, as is any viewpoint one should wish to put forth.

Does that answer your question?
