The Pain of the Beast

El Dolor Animal del libro El Problema del Dolor

Quote:
(Lewis,C.S.)

BeaSTS ARE NOT CAPABLE OF SIN OR VIRTUE IN CONSEQUENCE THEY DO NOT DESERVE PAIN AND THEY CANNOT PREFECT THEMSELVES FROM THE STRIFE FOUND IN PAIN. WE SHOULD NOT PERMIT FROM OTHERS THAT THE ISSUES OF AFFLICTION IN BEASTS SHOULD COMPLICATE THE ENCENTERED PAIN THAT BEFALLS US; NOT BECAUSE IT IMPLICATES SOMETHING OF LITTLE OR NO LEGITIMATE VALUE- EVERYTHING THAT INCLUDES APPROPRIATELY PROPORTIONED STUDIES ABOUT GOD AND HIS CANDOR IS TRUTHFUL AND VALUABLE. GOD HAS GIVEN US DATA AND NEWS TO GIVE US IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER THE UNDERSTANDING TO CONFRONT PAIN; BUT HE HAS NOT GIVEN US DATA THAT PERMITS US TO DOMINATE THE BEAST ENTIRELY.

TRANSLATOR (from Spanish to English): S.L.A.

Thank you.

...You're quoting C.S Lewis to make a point about animal rights? And you bring in God...

Animals have rights only insofar as we grant them. I say we should eat everything edible. And then move on. Problem is that people seem to care about animals nowadays so being brutal to them makes people suffer indirectly. Apparently we first need to make people see that it's only mankind that matters, since we are the only thing that makes things matter. Fuck the animals, unless we all decree otherwise.

And screw God and C.S. Lewis. I like symptom's sentiment too.
