Hand Foot And Mouth Disease

Has anyone ever heard of this disease before? I didn't until I got it a few weeks ago. It was pretty weird. I had these things on my tongue and on the roof of my mouth that this website called tongue ulcers. And I had blisters on my hands and one on my toe. I'm pretty sure some of them are now scars. The worst thing about this disease is that there is absolutely no medication for it. My doctor told me to take Tylenol for the pain. It didn't help. The up side is it only lasts for about 2 weeks. At least it's not forever. But the biggest pitfall is when I tell people what I had the last time I was sick. Before I can get out the word "disease," they always start laughing. I think it is a pretty humorous name for a rather unamusing sickness.

Sorry to hear about it. Actually, I'd never heard of this condition before. When this thread first caught my eye I thought you might be talking about hoof and mouth disease, that thing that cows get and can be transmitted by eating infected beef. We all remember the horrible media overkill of that thing a couple years ago. Hope you feel beter soon.

Here's a link for any interested:

I'm already better. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Everyone confuses HFMD for hoof and mouth disease. My own mother was looking at me with a weird look on her face when the doctor told me what I had. But I thought hoof and mouth disease couldn't be transmitted to humans... I think I missed the media uproar...

lol... guess what I thought this thread was about.

Glad you're feeling better. Nothing like a horrible disease to remind us of the joy of not being in constant pain.

Are you sure HFMD isn't just another term for Herpies?

You will find HFMD most often in daycares. It is very contagious.
