The 2003 Invasion of Iraq by US Lead Coalition Forces Was Just.

Notice the distinction between 'just' as in ethically correct and 'justified' as in 'proper justification was given at the get go by the powers that be'.

I will be arguing mainly from an ends justify the means position, focused on the importance of the regime change and the strategic importance of Iraq in the overarching human project of advancing civilization.

Here's the plan for a hybrid (formal/informal) debate format:

We each write an opening, me first since I'm the affirmative. You should not respond to my opening in your opening because...

Round 2 is rebuttals, where the focus of our posts should be directly responding to the opponent's opening statement. I go first again.

Round 3 will be closing remarks. You get a chance to respond to your opponent's rebuttal, but that's not what the round is all about. Reiterate the main thrust of your position and if you want to launch yourself into soaring rhetoric, this is where to do it.

Round 3 concludes the 'formal' section of the debate, and is followed by an informal section where we are encouraged to explore tangents and invite others to join in with a more conversational style, for as long as we want to keep at the thread.
