Oh yes, lets listen to Mark Morford, far left wing nut who is not really a true journalist. A real keeper there.
    Enough said.

Then again if this guy had his way Che and Mao and many others would be considered hero's. Too bad he got his job back after his fiasco.

Instead, let's listen to Glenn Beck! Maybe throw in some Jerry Falwell for some fair and balanced coverage. Unlike them, he's actually stating facts. Texas is fucked, and the fact that this can actually happen, means that Texas is fucking all the other states silly.

Che Guevara -is- a hero. He was a great man who helped a nation out from under the control of a right-wing fascist dictator. Obviously not a perfect man, but a far greater inspiration to us all than either you, or your hero McCarthy.

Oh yes, Glenn beck makes cliams he is a journalist like Mark does. Also have you seen any stories how Beck is almost fired for what he says on his own job? No you do not.

And if you think a man that has killed men, women and childern personally as a hero, I feel bad for you.
Never said that the man that Castro and Che replaced was any better, but to put Che or Castro as a hero is ridiculous. And no man will ever be perfect, but to make excuses or defending Che.

No, but putting the textbook making in the hands of the government is no better. I like your article because it points out who is making these stupid decisions, but that just means the public has to stand up and not purchase these books from these companies.

Actually, the funny thing is he doesn't make the claim he's a journalist, that's about the only thing I can thank him for, here it is and I quote, "I'm not a journalist, I'm a republican."
What does him not being fired have to do with anything? Because he's a good little boy and does just what the network wants him to he's better than someone talking about actual news? Come on, he's a glorified tool, used only to dumb people down further.

Did I say he never did anything wrong? No, he became a ruthless man, completely dedicated to the revolution and I feel that there's a lot to be admired in that. There are only a handful of people in each generation that can stand up and fight with every last breath they have for something they believe in, and to make a different. He was driven by a desire to help those struck by poverty, and under the heel of capitalist pigs. I do not agree with every decision he made, but I respect him as a great man, and as a hero of the revolution.

The school buys the textbooks. Parents don't have control over what the school buys for their kids, and the school buys what they're told to buy.

The government is not ur enemy numb nuts, YOU are the government.

Policies need to be made about whats being taught, government should be doing that, not business and government is beholden to the people.

So if people dont like what they are doing they should protest the hell out of it and kick people out of office, that means become political !

Please give me the link where he said that. No, But he has integrity, While Mark does not have that. The only tool is Mark to the progressive movement. Now I may not agree with everything that Beck says, but he has more integrity then this other gentleman. And what is wrong with being a good little boy and not make shit up like Mark has?

It simply amazes me the kind of comments come out about Che and others like him. To even give this man any credit is a shame. I am sure he is dedicated to his cause, of oppressing others to his ideology. I find it horrible to admire a man that has cause so much destruction in so many lives in Cuba and in Argentina. Sorry, to even put him on any grand scale is disgusting.
And there is a difference between having convictions to having a sick desire of control of other people around him. Just look at his involvement in the prison of La Cabaña. Where many people were mutilated and murdered because they oppose or disagreed with Castro or Che. I do not think he is a great man, he was a monster.

That is part of the problem, we are allowing our schools to be run by the government.

Yes, government IS our enemy. Reason why I say this is because they are suppose to be working for us, well it has not for the last 150 years. In fact over the last 100 years since progressives/socialists have been entering our politics it has slowly been eroded to special interest groups controlling our policies, whether that be from the far right or left.

Right now Argh it is becoming more and more difficult in this nation to remove progressives that are dangerous to this nation by elections.

I'm not sure i get you, does progressive not mean progress? is this not a good thing? i'm also not to sure where you stand mate, if somebody knocks the U.S and its forign policy you don't like it, yet this is made by the government, then you say the government is bad! individuals cant run a nation, a government can, there are to many individul intrests if it was left to the parent, the teacher, the doctor ect you need a collective! people to do what is best on the whole for the nation! as much as i might knock the U.S on occasion i think with the best will in the world this is what your government does........... it just gets it wrong alot! hehehe

but then i cant talk, mine government is naff to!!!!:2thumbsup

I guess the only way I can explain it on here is that the reason why you see me so call defend our policies is all we have on this board is left wing tools(well mostly those but not all). If you were to meet me and we had a chat about my nations history, you would see I am an opponent to many policies my nation has followed. And to say I am against all who knock on my nations policies would be gross over-exaggeration.
And I disagree with the collective notion. In my view its the parents first, then the teacher, doctor and such.
But I am sorry, I disagree with many of the posters on here, our FEDERAL government has its roles, but those are limited roles and they do not include interfering with private businesses, health care, education and many more programs.
Maybe in Canada or Britain those roles are included, but not here.

As far as the progressive movement, sure the name implies progress, but the actual progress is misunderstood. They would rather take away the free will of the people to satisfy the minority of people who want wealth distribution.
I see no progress in that at all.

There ya go. No, he does not. He does nothing but slander, and do his best to push your country back into a theocracy. Clearly you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You accuse an actual journalist of making stories up, all the while listening to almost everything that pathetic excuse for a republican says. Once again, HE DIDN'T MAKE THAT STUFF UP! Unlike Glenn, who takes every opportunity to spit on historical accuracy.

Have you read anything about Che Guevara? Any ideas on his morals and ideas on people? He was a great, sensitive man who was driven by his desire to help those in need. Yes, he was a harsh disciplinarian and easily shot deserters, traitors and informants. That's war. The other option was to just sit back and let fascists continue to run the show, getting countless more killed and oppressed. Feel what you want, but you're incorrect, and your insults are a tarnish on a good mans name.

NO! We're letting the COMPANIES run the schools, with plenty of input from 'Concerned Parents', the religious Right, and probably the fucking Clintons. Is that the right way to do it? Because things were bad before, but at least they weren't a fucking shit-storm destroying the minds of young children.

Wow, for once we kind of agree, if for completely different reasons. The government IS our enemy, but not the greatest one. Vastly more dangerous are the capitalists behind the government, subtly controlling things. They're the true enemy, they're vastly more dangerous. You know, you're really fond of tossing Socialist around... More and more I think you don't know what that means... And more and more... I just don't understand what you're saying. Try to be clearer in the future.

Hm... Wow... You're absolutely ridiculous. You're actually against ending poverty, ending starvation and ending petty crime. Unbelievable. You talk about Progressives trying to end freedom, when it was Progressives that gave you the ideals that you so value today. Those ideas were radical and progressive at one time, and helped us make the change to give greater freedom. Now we should progress further because we have a long way to go.

Basically, Progressives are what Liberal Minded Democrats *claim* to be today, which I would argue. The idea was to rewrite/reinvent the meaning of the Constitution, making the US Federal Government the means to all ends. Socialism, the opposite of Capitalism, then falls under the Progressive "Hate the Capitalist" ideology.

Monkey; The Texas procedures for influencing Textbooks, either direction for influence is somewhat overblown. Publishers are not bound by these suggestion, or if critical for the sale will publish -X- number for Texas, then another for their remaining customers, both in the US and around the world.

Then the problems go back to the Teachers, which are going to teach, in many cases, to their own agenda or version of an issue, be it in History or any subject, content of the material, not always being what's taught.
As for who buy's the Books, in the first place; In Texas (over 1000 districts and 2.5 million public school students) and a few other States, these books are bought for all Schools in their State, other allow Districts (Thousands around the Country) to pick and choose text books actually used and in EVERY district, they are a Board of Directors, with public meetings and can alter or change the curriculum if so desired (pretty rare).

The important thing about education K-12, is the choice of school or whether it's a Public School or not or even an Educational Institution. Ten States (Including Texas) have absolutely no regulation for a parent or parents to 'Home School' their child or children and over half the remaining States require only registering to the State.

I'd be very careful in pretending what one person claims, or what may or may not be in Text Books, is what's being taught, Statewide, much less Nationwide....A predominantly black school in Harlem, a predominately Latino School in South Texas/Los Angeles or any School in Montana are going to be as different as 'night and day' in many subjects. States, still have 100% control, not the Federal.

Yeah. That is bad. Now just convince the people who suck the marrow out of hard working good people who dedicate their long 40 hour weeks for the benefit of the community to STOP bringing in their incompetence in the supervision areas and quit the overall pathetic selfishness and the STUPIDly ridiculous personal agendas to confuse and ruin a positively edifying and enriching, hands-on, and direct professional services where their only goal is to educate the young people who ALSO have dreams, and endeavors they would like to pursue without chaos.

    Thank you.

Really? Where was the slander again? Do I have to find the written script of that video you showed to show you there was no slander? Of course you have no family like he and I have to worry about. You CLEARLY have no idea what you are talking about. Get a friggin clue. And can you show me how he is a tool of the republican party? Have you actually listened to his radio show and not some you tube clip? See I can actually say I listen to the far left AND right on radio, T.V AND newspapers.
Now I can say you have not, because clearly you did not even watch your own you tube clip. He never said anything about religion. Meanwhile the far left in the media in this nation distorts history every day.
And to actually think that Mark character is a true journalist is a joke.

A good man? My GAWD! :banghead3:
My comments are not insults, rather the truth. Like I tell my kid, the truth hurts sometimes. And how is he great again or sensitive? So was he sensitive to those he slaughtered? And you think that all those people he killed where deserters, traitors and informants? Wow, talk about ignorance.
Here is some personal stories and names that talk about the person named Che.
    http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/10/8/222305.shtml

Yes! They are my childern and I should be the one saying what goes in my child's head, NOT some government official in Washington.

No, my definition that have been using has been loud and clear. If you support a large government, you support socialism/communism or progressivism. Pretty clear there. And I think a government that intervenes is more dangerous then any "capitalist" company or person.

Now this is a stretch. Where have I EVER said I was against ending any of these? Please, enlighten me.

Unbelievable. You talk about Progressives trying to end freedom, when it was Progressives that gave you the ideals that you so value today. Like hell they are my ideals I value today. Like hell. And we are losing freedoms every time we allow society or a government interfere with my personal life. Especially when they go outside the bounds of their contract of the Constitution.

By the way love the way how you manipulation my words into what you want me to say or think.

I posted that solely for the "I'm not a journalist, I'm a republican" as per your request. I did not watch it as it would pretty pointless doing so on a computer with no speakers. Every time I hear him though he's bitching and complaining about someone (Very often Obama it seems) and throwing around insults, and generally false slander. How is he a tool of the Republican party? He's on Fox New, 'nuff said. No, as much as I would like to hear him more so I could more skillfully tear him to shreds, it's just really not worth it. A bit here and there is more than enough, he makes my brain hurt and my soul cry with his stupidity. I commend you for looking at both ends of the spectrum, very few people do. I do my best, but there's only so much bullshit I can sift through. Obviously the 'Left' distorts the truth too, everyone does in this day and age. But they're a lot less offensive, and breed less hatred around them.

*Sigh* The truth according to you. Which is different that the truth according to me, according the Che Guevara's family and loved ones, and his enemies. Who is it that slanders Che? Powerful capitalists who lost money in the Cuban uprising. Republican's who view a justified rebellion as an impossibility, unless it's them doing it. Have you read anything from his journals? His writing and his poetry? He was a gentle man in a hard place at a hard time, and changed to do what he felt was his duty. I respect him for that, and for everything he did, for good or ill. Funny, I've read personal accounts that paint the exact opposite picture.

You do realize that you have a shit-tonne more power over your government, and can control them much easier than you can a company.

What you haven't always been doing is forming complete and proper sentences. When you leave words out, and mix words up, I can't understand and can therefor not rebut.
Oh, and NO! It's not black and white like that. I'd suggest that you read a bit more about Socialism and Communism, as well as various other more 'Leftist' leaning ways of thinking, before you damn them in favour of a failing system.
I'll tell you this again, companies are more dangerous, because we don't have any of the control over them that we do over the government.

    .
When you said you were against the redistribution of wealth, or, in my ideal world, the elimination of wealth. You're in favour of keeping the money in the hands of those who didn't even earn half of what they have. That is one of the main causes of poverty etc. in the world, that kind of greed that a redistribution, or as I said preferably an elimination of wealth would help solve. Taking money out of the hands of those who don't need it, and into the hands that do.

Obviously you didn't understand what I was talking about. For their day, in the truest sense of the words, the men who Wrote The Constitution, were progressives. Yes and no. In the society we have, government has a place right now, a place of control. America has extended beyond the grasp of the founding fathers. I'm sure if they were here now, they might change things around a bit, given the vastly different state of world affairs. It's the same thing as the bible, should we really be taking this outdated text, that was written before women and blacks had the vote, before women had choice in their marriages, before countless monumental changes and advances that have happened in the past couple hundred years.

Yeah, I love it too. You only have yourself to blame though, you're giving me all these perfect opportunities.

So you do admit you do not watch enough of the opposing side to make a REAL comment on what they are saying? Thank you for admitting that.
And if you think he has not right or say in his complaining, then you truly do not live in reality of what is going on in my nation(I know you are from Canada). If you are not informed enough to make serious comments, then do not slander Beck. With me and Beck and others that actually listen to the other side, we can make informed comments. Understand?

My truth? Oh come on... It had been documented by others but also by Che himself of his activities of torture, murder and slaughter of whole families.
I mean I can understand if you were to say in your 21st century thought of mind about how Washington and the founders were hypocrites with owning slaves. But you have to take into context that this man, Che was suppose to FREE men and women from tyranny. What did he do instead? The opposite.
I really do not believe you when you said you have read his poetry and writings, especially when you have admitted not actually reading or listening to Beck. So what makes me think you actually read Che? Honestly? I would love to see the positive accounts please, because I provided the accounts of brutality.

Really? Not in reality my friend. More everyday my freedoms are being taken away.

Well I am sorry if you do not have a 2 year old bouncing on your lap when you are looking at your work emails and Frostcloud. So please forgive me.

I Have a feeling I am older then you and have MORE YEARS of reading then you on this subject. I did study this in my education and even after I am not in school anymore. So no, I do know what socialism and communism means.

In your opinion. Not in fact. In fact, companies are at the whim of their customers when it comes to what happens in them. Same goes for employees(who actually use their power of leaving that company if they so wish to)

Just because I am not for redistribution does not mean I WANT poverty. What a distortion of the truth by you. If you think it is not okay for those that supposedly did not earn it, what do you think redistribution is going to do? It is going to take money from those that earned it and give it to those that did not. Is that not hypocrisy?

No, I didn't admit anything of the sort. I said that I don't listen to or read A LOT of right wing propaganda. I have read and heard enough to form an opinion on the matter, and haven't gone further because most of what I've heard offends me.
I never mentioned his rights, I just pointed out that he's offensive, and a liar. He has a right to say pretty much whatever he wants, it's the soapbox he's been given that I object to.
Heh, we're back to insults are we? Trust me, you don't want to go there.
Oh, I understand quite clearly, dear fellow. Truly, a young, ignorant Canadian that doesn't listen to every word that spills from Glenn Becks putrid, disease ridden lips, or bend over and support the rich getting richer, can't have an actual valid opinion when it comes to world politics! Give me a break, and get some sense.

And? Good people haven't done bad things? As I've said, he made mistakes and did things that I don't agree with, that shouldn't eliminate his legacy as an incredibly impressive revolutionary, and man, that deserves to be respected, but not utterly emulated.
Ahahahah, so because I don't pay much attention to Glenn Beck, I clearly haven't read anything Che Guevara wrote... That's kind of a leap in logic, even for you Dragon.
Heheh, now I'm gonna sound like a liar, but I'll have to take a rain check on that until I can find the actual book, since I don't remember the full title. Something something Che Guevara I think. It's somewhere in my house, but I dunno where at the moment. I'll take a look though, since you're so eager for both sides of stories. =)

Yes, like your freedom to pay stupid amounts of money for over priced prescription drugs?

You know quite well that you're older than I, and you should know as well as I do that that doesn't mean you know more about this than I do. Your view of Communism and Socialism is based on the actions of Lenin (So I've inferred from the thread you started) which just isn't correct. That's corrupted, fascist communism, not actual communism, so your judgments seem unfair, and driven by a sense of Red-Fear probably left over from the Cold War. Or so it seems.

How often are governments subjected to the will of the people? Pretty frequently, particularly in semi-democracies like ours. The government starts doing something we don't like, most of the time we hear about it and can stop it. Not always, hence many appalling laws, statutes, clauses, loopholes etc. that are found in government documents. Companies on the other hand have international influence, and can span countries and even continents with their influence. We've seen it in Oil Companies, Clothing manufacturers, and weapons dealers. They aren't bound by one nations laws, they've got most of the money in the world, and as we've seen they're completely unethical. I don't like the government, but companies are scarier to me.

True, that was a bit of a foolish remark, but hey, go big or go home. Hrm, you clearly don't get it.
At the moment, an absolutely appalling amount of money is in the hands of far too few people. These people do not need this money, and they didn't work for this money, it should be given to those who need it, and work for it. A CEO makes a six figure income, while a hundred people below him doing the real work barely make enough to afford an apartment in an over-populated, over-priced, cement cube with a view of a dark alleyway. Thousands of people live off the money their parents made, just working enough to not seem totally lazy. This is a problem. Redistribution of wealth isn't an ideal solution, elimination is. But we've got to take baby steps.

They were also revolting, and generally being contrary old coots. Sounds like progress to me.

Now now, we can't say what they'd be like. For all we know in this day and age B Frankie, and G-Wash might be more interested in signing the declaration of a record deal. But all jokes aside, it was an impressive document at the time, but it's gotten a bit outdated, and should have some revisions. Human society is constantly changing, and the old rules can't keep working forever.

You leave open-ended phrases, and I fill in blanks as I please. It's a classic tool used by politicians, and other unsavoury types. Not the most honourable tactic, but this isn't exactly a battlefield. I use what skills I have to press my advantage when I can. It's something a hero of your does quite well too.
Also, there are no Canadians that think like me, nor are there American's, or anyone of any other race. My mind is my own, sir, don't lump it together with others.
