No proof that it would decrease either. The closest we have is the increased consumption of alcohol by minors and the general public since the end of prohibition. There is proof that those "recreational" drugs are bad for you though.

Do you have proof that it would "remove" the criminal element? Or would it just legalize the criminal element? I feel like we aren't on the same wavelength. Picture Pablo Escobar. Drugs become legal when he is still the primary dealer. Would he lose his power? Or would he just continue to produce drugs for the insanely high demand? Would he raise his prices? Etc That is my main concern. Legalizing a Pablo Escobar.

You mean the government thinks that getting alcohol off the shelves is going to stop the alcohol problem? Like a prohibition of alcohol? Oh wait you said raise the price of it. But then you say help remove cheap cider and vodka? Wait? I'm so confused. You think drugs should be legal, but then you are for a system of reduction of alcohol? This doesn't make sense. And now I am curious why do you think Alcohol is such a problem over drugs? I wonder if it is because it is more easily accessible? Just a curiosity.

Is alcohol illegal? Last time I checked I am over 21 and I don't drink and drive. I respect the law so I reckon I am better than some dumbass kid.

And getting drunk is misusing alcohol? Are you sure? I don't drink to get drunk. Getting drunk is a side effect. I am a particular fan of the way some drinks taste.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make my point clear. What I am saying is in Scotland anyway, alcohol is much more harmful than other drugs. By a slight increase in the minimum price of alcohol 2000 lives would be saved per annum wheras all the other drugs combined kill c545 per annum.

Alcohol in moderate doses is harmless in fact in very small doses some.eg red wine may be beneficial to health but it is a depressant and a poison in larger doses.
You may have heard of the sad death of English singer Amy Winehouse (unfortunate name) from alcohol poisoning recently. Probably as many rock stars die from alcohol abuse as from abusing other drugs.

Cannabis in particular can be beneficial to health. I have a paraplegic friend who controls the involuntary spasms in his legs by the use of cannabis and it is much more effective than any prescribed drug and has no side effects.

Don't make the mistake of seperating alcohol from other recreational drugs. The only difference is that it is legal.

The war on drugs is a scam and a con. Research Los Zetos cartel and their links to "The School of the Americas". Fast and furious is just more of the same.
