So I spend a lot of time on the range and I got to thinkin about this when I had a discussion with a cop that was on the range. He was telling me that he isn't a fan of open/concealed carry laws and that we as citizens should not have a right to carry firearms concealed/openly in public and that all firearms should be incased when in public and unloaded. Backstory done. I did some research on the subject. I am not trying to bring up a discussion on like if guns should be legal or not. That is probably a flame war in the making, and besides it is already provided for in the United States that we have a right(not obligation) to have firearms as citizens. Well it is interesting that the first opposition for OPEN carry laws was to prevent Blacks from carrying firearms concealed. That is why the Black Panther party protested the bills It is ALSO a pretty well known fact that Blacks were prevented from carrying firearms in the South for a REALLY long time. The Jim Crow laws did this. I would say that it falls under what Ghandi said about the British misdeed and not allowing Indians to have arms, but they were not allowed to be in the military. This was because it would allow them the ability to fight back against oppression. Same can be said for the Black Panther patrols. This is just an interesting little tid bit. I even noticed a cartoon about Black History in America that backs this(gun control is historically racist) up (albeit unintenionally). Sincerely, The Armed Citizen.
Obviously. Nobody is saying that it is NOW, but it certainly IS funny that the left in this country still use lovely tactics to tie gun supporters to racism. What is HILARIOUS is: Just funny to me that race is STILL a factor on gun control, even though they are seemingly 2 sepperate issues (well to me they seem like that anyway, but what do I know? I am just a lowly citizen in their eyes).
You seem to like talking about penis. What does that say about you? I fail to see the connection between guns and penises. Don't worry about my view of you though. You have already ruined your credibility as a man in the other thread with your total lack of understanding of trucks. I don't know that much about them, but I do grasp the basic concepts of ground clearance and 4 wheel drive. This thread will just be icing on the cake.
Gun control, eh? I personally don't care too much. Why have limits on bullets per magazine or clip? They stopped the guy who shot Giffords and killed those others because he was reloading; if he had only 10 bullets per magazine, and not 30, many more wouldn't have been killed. But we're overpopulating the world anyway. I say arm the civilian, and let the killing come. Kill the politicians, kill the coppers, go nuts. Kill each other. And what with the new Minority Report-esque technology the DHS is creating to "predict" crime, the window to kill is running out.
Well the reality is that Gun Control is just a feel good policy by misguided leftists. It doesn't attack the root cause of crime. It is a cop out. I mean I speak from experience when I say people don't need a gun to cause harm. Hell they don't even need a bladed weapon to stab you. A screwdriver works just fine.
LOL tac, ya gotta admit that it's pretty hard to take someone out with a screwdriver at a hundred feet right? Guns are eminently more powerful than screwdrivers - you can't compare the two in a sensible debate.
Gun Junkies At some point in my time is Tasmania. I walked past some of the people in this. Perhaps photographed some of them. And then did not even realise their name. Visited one time a meeting with Public Interest Network. Otherwise known as P.I.N. prick to burst private balloons. Conspiricay theories rampant with circumstantial evidence. Money on the table and the book sellers make money. O OO OOO OOOO OOOOO OOOOOO OOOOOOO OOOOOOO OOOOOO OOOOO OOOO OOO OO O Somebody said gun control is fascist. John Howard was called John Coward For putting a ban on automatic weapons. So all the gun-junkies stuck em underground. No PEaCe for the good and the bad got a bad habit to cure. Lest we forget the victims of crime who were denied justice. One man in ignorance can do much damage with a gun shot. Perhaps researchers will someday discover why they do it.
I guess you haven't grown up in a violent neighborhood. Good for you. But most shootings don't occur at 100 feet. They don't occur at 10. They are up close and personal. And as far as screwdrivers go, they aren't hard to kill with because they aren't suspcious looking. It helps to know what a suspicious person really looks like though. Don't ask me though. It is 6th sense thing. You only know it if you have experienced it.
You are still comparing a gun with a screwdriver for killing power, eh? The point I was making, for both you and Dragon, is that the gun has the capacity to kill at a hundred feet whereas a screwdriver doesn't, so you cannot reasonably compare the two.
Ben, you know violence rarely occurs at a distance. It's a close-up thing. The proper firearm just gives a potential victim the same or greater capacity to injure as a potential assailant. I don't know of anyone who carries a gun and hopes he/she gets a chance to use it in self-defense. Taking the life of another is far from a "normal" experience. Until you've been there, I think you cannot apprecaite just how surreal that moment is. Every one of the people I know who own guns and kep them available in their home feel that it is a part of their home security. I lived in a ground floor apartment once. Began having one or more "peepers" at a couple of the windows. I placed one 45 ACP round standing up in each window. Never had another disturbance. A good deterrent is worth more than any reaction. I believe the knowledge that so many homes have guns in them is a deterrent to most criminals. No law will ever induce me to give up my weapons. I strongly doubt that I would use them against law officers trying to confiscate them. That action would likely have a bad outcome. On the other hand, I wouldn't fault anyone who did. If we ever do get a law outlawing those I own and someone comes to get them, mine will be well hidden. Only one of mine is registered. Best to buy used ones from individuals and pay in cash. None of anyone's business what I own anyway.
cannot bomb in private nor can you shoot a man in private fear of losing property is to blame. PEaCe
I have shot both moving and stationary targets before. Like I said not an easy thing to do. As far as the throwing a sharp object like a knife or screw driver, it can be done with practice. Like most cases assults with weapons happen close quarters. Meaning target it closer to hit withscre driver or gun.
The point is that up close, both a screwdriver and a firearm can kill. Do you know the edge a screwdriver has? It isn't detectable. The point I am making is not the ability to kill of one vs the other, nor am I saying that I will carry a screwdriver in place of my gun. I am saying that it doesn't matter if you outlaw guns or not. It doesn't matter if you put controls on them either. Someone bent on killing will do it. Be it a high powered rifle from 500m or a screwdriver into your torso. The only saving grace that someone may have is that they had a .38 special on their waistband. I think we can both agree that the outright ban on firearms would have far different consequences in the United States than it would in Europe. The United States is a gun culture. The people who are committing crimes with guns shouldn't have them anyway.
