    FrostCloud Member Interview
    This Month’s Member: MPDC
    Member Profile: http://www.frostcloud.com/forum/member.php?u=1066

    > 1) Tell us a little bit about yourself and your goals.

Did six years in the Navy. Assigned to the SSBN 628 Gold USS Tecumseh.
When I got out I did retail security for 3 years, catching shoplifters, and
internal theft. After that got hired by the Pentagon Police force, tried
out for and was accepted on their ERT but grew bored since the Pentagon ERT
didnt get many call outs, so tried out for and was accepted for Metro DC
Police. Am assigned to 7D in 2000.

    > 2) What are some of your hobbies?

    Photography, running, fencing, philosophy.

    > 3) From your profile, you claim to be a police officer. As an officer, can
you describe any dangerous encounters that you've been a part of while you
    are on the job?

Claim, there was an incident with a stolen minvan. The vehicle was
running from officers and went into the playground area of a public housing
project. Anyways while the vehicle had to slow down to climb an embankment
myself and a couple other officer approached the vehicle on foot. The
driver refused to stop, and when I got close enough to it I grabbed onto the
laugage rack and my partner broke out the drivers side window. As the
vehicle moved I started to climb in the broken window, and finally the
driver stopped the vehicle and was arrested.

    > 4) What do you think are some of the rewards for being a police officer?

The job is never the same, everyday you have an oppurtunity for somthing
    to happen.

    > 5) You also claim to live in the Washington DC area which is known to have
a high crime rate. Do you feel "safe" in your area?

Claim. I live in SE DC Annocoastia way. the whole of DC is being
revitalized, but yes I do not want my wife to walk about or go places
without me. However as far as my safety, its fairly ovious that I am a
police officer and its bad business to mess with a cop so I would say I am
very safe. Also, I have a lot of photos in my gallery, if anyone is
    intrested in viewing DC sights.

    > 6) What do you think needs to be done in order to bring down the crime
    rate?

The city needs to take crime seriously. Currently the biggest
complaints in the District is Juv car theifs. But the justice system doesnt
do anything when we catch them, and the city puts restriction in how we can
chase them. SO I have seen times where kids try to get the police to chase,
by doing extremely ignorant things in front of them. Another thing that is
important is citizens have to rat on the criminals. The crime in DC is
committed by DC citizens, and most of the time its comitted close to home.
IE the men with guns, are known by the neighbors, its the same child that
    played out back. etc.

    > 7) Who has been the most influential person(s) in your life?

    Parents.

    > 8) Anything else you like to say to the members of FrostCloud?

Enjoy the web site. Find some of the questions wording a little insulting,
the whole claimed thing but I understand your rational for it. Saddend that
things have died down. but such is the way of things. By the by here is the
    gallery again. http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGallByMember.asp?mem=67541

I was in D.C. a month after 9-11, and I had a long conversation with a Smithsonian guard. I really feel for the guards, officers, and police who work in the capital at such a dangerous time.

Did I mention that one of my two best friends (the heterosexual one) is a police detective here in New York City?

Keep the pride high, guy! :)

Thanks. I don’t think you had mentioned that.

    And Semper Fi! :)

George was a Marine before he became a cop. He is a Christian and a Republican--and we have been close friends since 7th grade (the late 1970s).

Even our comic books have always been different: He is a Marvel guy and I am a D.C. guy.

If you ever asked me why we were so close, I would shrug my shoulders and give you a dumb look--yet I am "Uncle Mark" to his kids.

Thomas, my other best friend, has been my buddy since 1992. He is as gay as I and quite the agnostic.

George and Thomas have met only three or four times. While it has always been cordial, they have little in common: George and I have similar personalities but different beliefs and philosophies. Thomas and I have similar beliefs and philosophies but different personalities. Thus, while I have much in common with both, they have nothing in common.

But I still consider them (along with my father) the main men in my life, people I care for dearly.

    :)

I have been to D.C. four times: 2001 (by myself) as I have already mentioned, and three times with the George crowd (all three in the 1980s).

The George crowd tends to be military and police types--all hetero and conservative. I am the token weirdo! :D

The only bad thing about going to D.C. with such a crowd... How many times can a body see The Air and Space Museum? UGH!!!!!!!! Thanks to them, I have been to that musuem more times than I have been to D.C! (I had to sneak off to the Folger on my own.)

I THINK I know which one you mean. I do not know the name, but, if we are talking about the same museum, that was the original Smithsonian in the 19th century, when the museum was small enough to fit in one building. Now it serves as the location of the Smithsonian's administrative offices.

Me and my girlfriend were gonna make a trip to DC to check out some of the sites. We've both been to the obvious attractions. I told her we should find out which places are the best, and most overlooked.

    You guys have any suggestions?

Oh man. SE for the most part is umm ugly. NOT all but most. if you stay in the Gorge Town and Capitol hill area your good.
Don’t get me wrong though, that Fredrick Douglas house is really nice to see.
We have the national law enforcement memorial down town that is something to see, if you have relative that are police or agents.

OHHH and there is Dupont circle. That has some REALLY good food there.
And you said your wife is coming.
There is the greatest Moroccan place on NY ave NE in the 400 block. Called marikash (SP) AMAZING you eat with your hands, and a belly dancer comes out. Really something to see VERY sensual.
